Year 12 English Literature visit to Haworth
Year 12 students, together with Miss Clappison and Mr Wilson, visited Haworth, following their study of Emily Bronte’s “Wuthering Heights” for A Level. There follows a report from Year 12 themselves:
We took a trip to the Bronte parsonage to experience the thoughts behind “Wuthering Heights”. Throughout the time spent in Haworth, we developed a wider understanding of Emily Bronte’s “Wuthering Heights”. We learnt about many different interpretations of the text, which will be a useful tool in terms of out critical analysis.
We also learnt more about the Bronte family, which helped to widen our knowledge of the novel, and how key areas of the text related to members of the Bronte family. We learnt about the surroundings in which Emily Bronte lived and how these influenced her writing. We also looked round the parsonage.
The trip was a great experience, giving us knowledge for our English Literature course and important historical knowledge about England (especially Yorkshire).
