The Renewable Energy Learning Centre is a specifically equipped room based at the college and is aimed at teaching the importance of renewable energy to students in key stages 2-5 from schools and colleges from the wider surrounding area.
There is a dedicated team of staff who will be delivering sessions about wind and solar renewable energy forms.
The centre has been furnished with a fully automated weather station which feeds live data onto the College intranet and is displayed within the centre.
There session will begin with a guided tour of the site to view our:
- 6kW wind turbine mounted on a 15m tubular tower located at the back of the college which supplies the College with energy.
- 24 No 170 watt photovoltaic panels covering a total area of 31.44 m2 are mounted on our lower school flat roof and are clearly visible from the lower school building.
- 2 No 2.5 m2 flat plate and 1 No 3m2 30 tube evacuated tube solar collection panels which generate hot water. This is fed into the colleges domestic hot water supply. |
