Teaching and Learning

Here is a summary of our Teaching and Learning Policy.

1.     South Holderness Technology College aspires to promote a good learning environment for all its stakeholders.  All members of the college community are learners and can help others to learn.

2.     We do this through providing a rich and varied learning environment and consistency of standards and approach.

3.     Our curriculum planning recognises the importance of learning skills, challenge and effective transition.

4.     Developing effective learners is our top priority and we recognise that there are different types of learners.  This informs our planning.

5.     We offer opportunities for students to learn in different ways.

6.     Our teaching focuses on developing skills and knowledge and uses a variety of strategies for this.

7.     Assessment is used to plan learning and teaching activities to match the abilities of students and to inform them.

8.     Students have an entitlement to a well ordered and stimulating learning environment and well-structured lessons.

9.     Well-structured lessons include different "episodes" and a range of strategies.

10.    Learning happens in many contexts, not just in the classroom.
