Community Aims

All specialist schools are responsible not only for the learning of their own students but also for providing learning opportunities for the wider community of learners. This is why a third of the additional funding we receive is spent on the community, from primary schools to adult education classes. We therefore plan to:

  • Continue to provide a consultant to work in our primary schools to support the raising of standards
  • Provide free classes to adults in the specialist subjects through our Adult Education service and using our facilities
  • Provide ICT technical support and expertise for our primary schools
  • Work with local businesses to meet their learning needs
  • Support a secondary school to raise standards in Mathematics
  • To provide tuition in ICT courses through our CISCO academy
  • Foster business links for students to experience the world of work
  • Celebrate our progress in ‘going green' by inviting the community to a Community Open Day in 2009
  • Work with Hull College and Bishop Burton College to deliver vocational courses
  • Develop partnerships with schools in China, Uganda and Germany
